Overdue Inspirational Artist of the Week!

Matt Leins is the man. With his use of perfect geometric shapes and folk-style art, I really have no need to talk him up. Just look for yourself!     http://www.robertsandtilton.com/artists/leines/?directory=.&currentPic=0     (just copy and paste that)

IM BACK!

Well i apologize for my absence, super busy two weeks with finals and christmas coming up. But now i'm on break, gettin some art supplies and references for christmas and now il try my best not to leave you guys again. So here's a make-up present for you guys, hope this helps.

This was put together for my graphic design final. I was told to choose a moment in history that interested me and I chose Joseph Kittinger jumping to space in the Excelsior III project. If you don't know what that is, then google Joseph Kittinger, it's pretty amazing and it might help translate this image. a little better.

DOODLE OF THE DAY

Today's doodle is a rare one because it's done in pencil.  Im interested in working with all of these lines as the texture and it pops up in a lot of my doodles. It hasn't made it to canvas yet, but we could see this guys or similar characters pop up in future works.

Skullpture

I think I'm going to add sculpture to my interests.

Yearly Badass Halloween Costume

This past Halloween, I decided to be deer, all because I have an amazing tall tee with two majestic deer on it that I needed to wear. So, after a project I did for 3-D I had a lot of wire left over.  With the wire for the frame, and a lot of felt for the deer skin to hide my 20 year old face, I was ready for some over-age trick or treating. Growing up is giving up!

DOODLE OF THE DAY

So truthfully this wasn't drawn today but it was  a sketch for one of my bigger pieces, WASTOID. I look forward to doing more of these kind of creatures.

DOODLE OF THE DAY

Today's doodle of the day is a doozy. Took me a little longer than a usual doodle  but I got into it so did it in one sitting. Based off Dick Cheney's mean mug.

DOODLE OF THE DAY

Im introducing the doodle of the day with this guy.  I realize that some of the line quality is a little off but I like him anyway, so get off my case bro, it's just a doodle. The dots were unintentional and just really bad means of covering up smudges, but it gives it content now...?  Idunno, I'm over it.

INSPIRING ARTIST OF THE WEEK

Skinner Davis

Skinner Davis is one hell of an artist. His work is really distinct and aside from arcade machines and sketchy carnivals I have never seen any work like his. I really appreciate not only his originality, but also how hard this man works as he has many paintings, sculptures and large-scale instillations. Take a look for yourself at http://theartofskinner.com
Heres my go at a Skinner character; Il leave the large-scale masterpieces to him.

So this is the Goin' Big tee I did for Corey. He told me to draw him a shirt with crazy people goin' big on a bus and this is what that translated to. When he first proposed this idea to me I was so pumped, but when it was actually time to fill my empty t-shirt canvas I remembered that I had no idea how to draw a bus. Fortunately for me, God created Google images.

In an unrelated note, I also drew a gangster rabbit on Corey's Lib Tech snowboard. Wow, that was extremely unrelated.

Shit Weasel tee

So here's the shit weasel from that insane movie Dreamcatcher on a shirt for my friend Dustin, it was pretty sweet doing this one but I had to brush up on my Dreamcatcher trivia and after watching it I totally wanted to do the ginger getting devoured but never having drawn a ginger before, I decided not to risk it.

Yeah, as you can see I don't know how to rotate photos yet

These shoes were a lot of fun to do but it actually took me two pairs to get the results that I wanted. So after screwing up the first pair I had to take a trip back to Wal-Mart and grab me pair number two. These shoes were for my friend Brian, so yes I decided to tell him that I fucked the first pair up and yes I did these for free so I actually lost money. If your reading this Brian try your best not to feel bad.

DWL Slime Time Sneaks!

I did these Slime Time sneaks after my good buddy Jordan came up to me after seeing my Sea Kitten designs for possible t-shirts and loving them. I really love doing these guys because I've been drawing them for years so they form so naturally by now. These shoes had a very slippery leather texture to them so when I was drawing them I had to hold them all awkwardly so I didn't smudge them. So hopefully they are covered in beer froth and smeared to hell right now because that would mean he actually got some use out of them .
